Andhra: North winds blow in more chill

The twin cities continued to shiver in the grip of a cold wave with temperatures plummeting further in several districts of Telangana.Hyderabad and Secunderabad reported 9.3 degrees Celsius today while Adilabad reported the lowest temperature of 4 degrees, Warangal 7 degrees and Nizamabad 9 degree Celcius.However, the city recorded the lowest temperature for January at 8.3 degree Celsius on Thursday after the 6.1 degree Celcius recorded on January 8, 1946 .The Hyderabad Meteorology Centre officials said that the existing cold wave conditions would prevail over Telangana for the next 48 hours.Venkateswara Rao, assistant meteorologist told Express that the twin cities was reeling under the cold wave due to the north winds blowing over Telangana region since two days after a trough was formed due to western disturbances which occur during winter."Besides, Easterly winds have been blowing over Telangana and Coastal Andhra regions and prevailed in Adilabad, Ranagareddy, Medak and Warangal districts in Telangana. Under their influence, the existing cold wave is likely to continue," the MeT officials added.
